Daryl Cromer

Daryl Cromer is currently Vice President and PCSD CTO.

Mr. Cromer is focused on how AI, Computer Vision, 5G, Sensors, and edge devices can solve customer pain points creating Smarter PCs and Devices. In this role, Mr. Cromer's top priority is to stimulate the innovation of emerging devices by identifying and nurturing new and future areas for investment and growth. He works closely with the business leaders to invest in the future, drive business development, and accelerate technology transfer to bring new innovations quickly into the marketplace as a quality product.

As PCSD's Chief Product Security Officer, Mr. Cromer is responsible for PCSD's security reviews and governance. This includes establishing standards, policies, and best practices, as well as ensuring compliance.

Previously, as part of Lenovo Research, Mr. Cromer over saw investments in the strategic and fast-growing connected devices market; including current devices, such as Smart Phones and PCs, as well as emerging devices, such as Augment Reality, Virtual Reality, Foldable Devices, and Wearable. In this role, Mr. Cromer managed a diverse set of Device + Research Labs, creating an intricate network of hundreds of researchers across multiple laboratories in three countries China (Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen), Japan (Yokohama), and United States (Chicago, Raleigh).

Mr. Cromer is a profile inventor, he holds over 400 issued US patents and was named Inventor of the Year several times at Lenovo and IBM. He was also appointed as an IBM Distinguished Engineer for his numerous technical contributions before joining Lenovo.

Mr. Cromer has been active in numerous groups and Sigs (IEEE, PCI, VESA, Trusted Computing Forum, Wired for Manageability, Bluetooth, WIFI.) He is currently serving on board of directors for several startup companies, as well as the North Carolina Technology Association.

Mr. Cromer received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical and computer engineering and a Master of Science in solid state physics from the University of Cincinnati.
